LEON Hayes and Adam Holroyd have both committed their long-term futures to Warrington Wolves.
The academy graduates, both of whom have made sustained first-team breakthroughs this year, have put pen-to-paper on new deals to keep them with the club until November 2027.
Both youngsters were in the final year of their current deals, although the club held one-year extension options on both.
However, now they will be a part of the long-term plans at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and for Hayes in particular, his new deal will come as a big boost as he starts his road to recovery from the fracture dislocation of his left ankle he suffered at Salford Red Devils on Saturday.
The anticipated recovery time of six months means the 20-year-old Warringtonian scrum-half is unlikely to play again this season but having started 10 games in a row in 2024, Hayes insists he has learned plenty to take forward.
“I’m over the moon to have signed a new deal with the club. It’s a big thing for me and a proud moment for me and my family,” he said.
“I’m a Warrington lad and there’s a few of us now in and around the first team who have come through the system here, which is really good. There’s a great togetherness in this group.
“This season has been really good for my development and I felt I was learning more and more each week.
“I’m gutted with the injury but focused now on my recovery and rehab. I’m determined it’s just a bump in the road and to come back stronger.
“I’m really grateful for all the support from the club and the messages from fans this week.”
Like Hayes, Holroyd progressed through the club’s academy to make his first-team debut in 2022.
Eight of the second-rower’s 15 senior appearances have come under Sam Burgess this year and he scored his first two senior tries for the club in the Round Five win over London Broncos.
Moving forward, the 19-year-old says he now wants to repay those who have shown such faith in him within the club.
“It’s awesome to have signed a new contract and I’m looking forward to the next three and a half years,” he said.
“It’s a great environment to be part of and I believe we’re building something special.
“For me now it’s time to pay back all those who have shown faith in me over the last few years. I want to reward them with some strong performances and bring my best to the team.”
