WARRINGTON Wolves club legends Adrian Morley, Gerry Lowe and Derek Noonan were all inducted into the Players’ Association Hall of Fame this weekend.

The trio became the latest former players to join the prestigious list of club greats and was announced at the annual Players’ Association dinner in front of over 300 guests at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Former club captain Morley made 173 appearances for the club between 2007-2013 and also holds the record for the most Great Britain/England appearances with 53.

A colossus figure in the middle for the club and an integral part of the pack under the reigns of Paul Cullen and Tony Smith, “Moz” famously led the club to Challenge Cup success at Wembley on three occasions, lifting the trophy in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

After receiving the award, Morley said: “It’s massive for me to receive this recognition.

“This club is very special to me and it’ll remain in my heart until I fall off the perch. I spent the most time here of any club and made the most appearances.

“It’s a fantastic achievement and I’m really proud to be inducted.”

Warrington-born Lowe was also inducted. He signed for the club in 1950 and a month later stepped out at Wembley as we defeated Widnes in the Challenge Cup Final. Over the next six years he became a regular in the Wire pack. In 1954 he managed a League and Cup double before rounding it off with a Championship medial in 1955.

In total he made 129 appearances for the club, scoring 12 tries. His heritage number is 516.

Sadly Gerry passed away in 2018, aged 90. His son, Andrew, was proud to collect the award on his behalf.

Noonan, who was signed as a trialist centre against Hull in October 1971, was also posthumously inducted.

With his strong defence and superb attacking skills, he became a select member who played in all four successful knockout finals in 1973/74, scoring two tries in the Players No6 Trophy and the match winner in the Club Championship.

In total, he made 147 club appearances and scored 34 tries. Derek’s family, including his wife Alison, were invited on stage to collect his award

Celebrations were made as part of the dinner to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of the club’s 1974 Challenge Cup win over Featherstone Rovers.

A host of players from that day were in attendance as well as a special live video link to former second-rower Dave Wright from Australia.
