GRAHAM Riley was honoured at Widnes Rugby Union Club's 48th annual dinner at a packed Heath Road on Friday.
There was not a dry eye in the house as Riley received a standing ovation as he made his way to the stage to receive a framed shirt complete with name and number from football manager Jimmy O'Neill.
The award marked Riley's 40 years as a player at Widnes.
Andy O'Neill also accepted a club tie to mark the start of his new role as first-team captain, replacing the outgoing Paul Borg.
Super League referee Steve Ganson was the guest speaker.
