WIDNES Rugby Union Club's junior and senior colts both lost in their Lancashire Cup Finals on Sunday.
The under 17s were defeated 16-0 by a very good Broughton Park side.
In a closely-fought contest, Broughton Park held a 7-0 advantage at half time.
The Wids missed a penalty early in the second half and that was as close as they got, with Park adding three more penalties to wrap things up.
Coach Ray Rigby said afterwards that the score did not reflect the closeness of the game and praised all his players for what has been a fantastic effort this season.
The under 19s lost 12-9 against Liverpool Collegiate, who took the lead midway through the first half with a converted try before two penalty goals from Chris Morgan reduced the arrears to a single point.
Another try created by the Collegiate pack eased them into a six-point lead before Morgan's trusty boot made it 12-9.
Widnes camped in the Collegiate quarter of the field for the last 20 minutes but they were unable to crack open an excellent Collegiate defensive line.
