NICK Price vowed his side will bounce back strongly from their 12-17 Plate defeat.

Crewe and Nantwich were denied a trophy as lowly league rivals Wallasey upset plans for the second successive final.

“We are quite capable of getting some silverware next season and that’s what we will be aiming for.”

Captain Dan Lynch gave them hope with a converted try, and Karl Tatlock added another try.

However three second-half penalties sealed victory for Wallasey.

Coach Price wants a promotion push next season.

"We were the better side, we scored two tries to their one and we were very unfortunate," he said.

"But it was a good performance and finishing fifth in the league and making a cup final is certainly something to build on.

"I will keep the squad together and I am already looking at making a couple of additions.

"We are quite capable of getting some silverware next season and that's what we will be aiming for."

Vice-captain Andy Pemberton added: "We made one or two mistakes and the referee didn't help our cause either.

"We gave away three penalties and they slotted them, which made it hard.

"Our scrummage was good but out lineout was disappointing.

"We will bounce back."
