Lee Briers offered his own punishment as he sat out Warrington Wolves' opener against Hull FC

TONY Smith said Lee Briers will be available for selection against London Bronocs next weekend but only time will tell whether he makes the squad.

Wolves' experienced half back and former captain was left out of the team today for what Smith described as a 'breach of players' game preparation agreement'.

He added: "He wasn't injured and would have been in the 19.

"He had a breach during the week in preparation for the game and paid a price for it.

"The players set themselves some high standards in terms of preparation and if anyone breaches it then they suffer the consequences and he did.

"He's served his sentence but whether he makes the squad for next week that's a different story and we'll see.

"His breach in preparation was relatively minor compared to what you get splashed in newspapers in Australia.

"He actually volunteered his punishment and it was accepted."

Nobody is to good to be left out if you breach the rules As a former captain and older player he should be setting an example to the young talented players that are coming up

I hope this is not a step backward for Lee Briers as in the past, before Tony Smith came, he appeared that he had problems with drink, Get a Grip Lee, you are not indispendable, to think that will certainly bring a swift end to your career at Warrinton.
