FORMER Warrington Wolves and Wales forward Mike Nicholas has been named on the RFL's Roll of Honour for outstanding services to rugby league.
The former Wales manager and current Welsh rugby league president, who made 152 appearances for Warrington following his debut in 1972, has been honoured for his role in the development of the game in Wales over the last five decades.
He said: "It was a massive honour for me.
"It is great to be recognised for the development work I’ve done over the last 40 years in the game associated with Welsh rugby and spreading the gospel of our great game."
Nicholas scored 14 tries and eight goals during his 152 club appearances and was also part of the team that defeated Featherstone Rovers to lift the Challenge Cup in 1974.
During his career at Warrington he won caps for Wales and went on to manage the Wales Rugby League team in 1994.
"On behalf of everyone in Rugby League I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mike for his outstanding support for the sport," said RFL Chairman Richard Lewis.
"His inclusion on the RFL Roll of Honour is thoroughly deserved and is an acknowledgment of his exceptional commitment and dedication over a sustained period."
