BEN Westwood is confident that new prop Chris Hill will succeed in Super League with Wolves.
As one of Super League’s most highly regarded forwards, Westwood is in a good position to judge how effective Hill will prove to be now he has joined the primrose and blue ranks from lower division Leigh Centurions.
Hill had been at Leigh since the age of 16 and the 24-year-old prop has impressed Westwood with his attitude.
Westwood, aged 30, believes the level of commitment will help Hill make his mark this term.
“When he was part time with Leigh he used to come down and play with us every day off his own back,” said Westwood.
“That was good to see and it gave us a chance to get to know him.
“He is a great asset to the team and has his big chance in Super League now, so hopefully he’ll take it with two hands.
“His commitment to the cause was fantastic, and it can only be a good thing for Wolves to have a player like that in the ranks.
“He is eager and has trained hard during the off season, as we all have to be fair.”
The Wolves and England barn-storming second row is also impressed with the club’s younger players looking to break into the team.
“The youngsters that have come through are impressive – I have never seen anything like it,” he said.
“The intensity at training, the effort and hard work they put into every single exercise is quite remarkable.”
