Richie Mathers wants to leave Warrington Wolves on a high note

RICHIE Mathers admits it will be a wrench to leave Wolves.

The full back produced one of the games of his life to help Warrington defeat Leeds, which are his hometown team and were his first professional club.

He also scored the first try in the previous year’s Challenge Cup success against Huddersfield Giants.

“It’s no secret that I care a lot about these boys and a lot about the club,” said the 26-year-old, who joins Castleford Tigers next season following Wolves’ decision to sign Brett Hodgson.

He said: “I wanted to go out on the best possible note and this is one down.

“We’ve still got the Super League.

“To go out with the Challenge Cup and to hopefully do well in the play-offs is pretty special.”
