CUP GLORY: We'll keep giving our best, says Moran

WHEN Wolves’ majority shareholder Simon Moran went to bed on Wembley eve he could never have dreamt of beating Leeds 30-6 in the Challenge Cup final.

“I was just hoping we’d win,” he revealed.

“But we have good players and Tony Smith’s doing a fabulous job with them to get them playing out of their skins.”

He marvelled at Lee Briers’ performance on the way to winning the Lance Todd Trophy.

Moran said: “Lee’s mouth was all bashed up. He said they did that in the first tackle. To be man of the match after that was tremendous but every one of them played well.”

The music promoter led the team out at Wembley after taking a backseat in the previous year’s events. It was great. I wasn’t nervous, just excited. After all, I didn’t have to do anything apart from walk.”

He is cautious about where two back-to-back Challenge Cup successes places Warrington in the current game and when asked if this was the start of Wolves domination he said: “I don’t know about that although the players and coaches will be doing their best to.

“Someone will probably knock us off at some point but we’ll give it our best efforts.”

And how about an appearance in the Grand Final at Old Trafford in a bid to do the double?

“All eight teams who qualify will think they have a good chance,” said Moran.

“The guys in our dressing room are pretty confident though and will be doing their best.”
