WOLVES boss Tony Smith revealed in the St Helens post-match Press conference that he likes it when the opponents play well.
Typical of Wolves’ luck against Saints, Mick Potter’s side were as near to full strength as they have been all season and their performance benefited.
“I was really pleased that the opponents were back to full strength,” said Smith.
“I want my opponents to play well and us to play better.”
Similarly, with his cap on as the former England coach, he was happy to see Kyle Eastmond in good form.
Eastmond scored Saints’ first try with individual brilliance, set up the first one of the second half and kicked six goals from six attempts in atrocious playing conditions.
“I was pleased that Kyle played well but I would have liked for us to have done a little better than he did,” said Smith.
Smith was reacting to the question: “Were Saints benefiting from the exposure he gave Eastmond with England last year?”
“I’m not going to take any credit for Kyle,” said Smith.
“I probably would have picked him the year before for England as well and taken him to Australia if he hadn’t have had a shoulder operation.
“He’s been good for a long time and is getting better.
“He’s a strong little character and was very potent at times on Friday night.
“I’m pleased for him, he’s great to watch.”
