Latest on Warrington Wolves half back Lee Briers and injuries from match against St Helens

LEE Briers looks set to return when Warrington Wolves entertain Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at The Halliwell Jones Stadium next Friday.

Tony Smith’s chief playmaker revealed after the loss to Saints that he was fit enough to play at Knowsley Road but it was felt he would benefit from an extra week on the sidelines to be certain he was over the ankle ligament trouble that had already seen him miss three matches.

There could be other changes to the team against Wakefield, too, depending on how players recover from knocks during the week.

Although no names were given, Smith said some players suffered dead-legs in the match against Saints.

Sometimes players need more than a week to recover from such injuries.

Saints’ Paul Wellens suffered a similar injury at Hull KR a fortnight ago and missed the next match at home against Crusaders.

A week later he lined up against Warrington but limped out of the game early in the second half.
