RICHIE Myler’s stepfather was a member of the last Warrington Wolves team to win a game at Knowsley Road.

“Wow, there’s a stat for you,” said 19-year-old scrum half Richie, who is about to face Saints for the first time in primrose and blue colours.

Widnesian winger Rob Myler was among the try scorers in Warrington’s 21-11 success in 1994, but there have been 18 losses and much heartbreak there since.

Wolves’ current Myler – signed from Salford last year – was only aged three when the tale of woe started.

“We’ve spoken about the record but don’t really want to talk about it now,” he said.

“We’ve got a job to do. We want to put it right. We want to set the score right and we want to play our game.

“We know we’ve got the team and the squad that can do a number on them and so we’ve just got to concentrate on playing well.”

Great battles are in store all across the pitch when Wolves and Saints meet tomorrow night.

And Myler’s tête-à-tête with fellow England scrum half Kyle Eastmond is top of the pile.

Both have emerged on the international stage over the past two years, with Saints’ number seven gaining the favour of Wolves’ former England boss Tony Smith in last year’s Four Nations campaign.

“Kyle’s play speaks for itself, I don’t need to ‘big’ him up,” said Myler.

“Saints have got quality all over the field and we know we have to be at the top of our game.”
