FULL TIME: Warrington Wolves 33 Bradford Bulls 8

WOLVES left it until the second half to show their attacking prowess as they hammered a shell-shocked Bulls side into submission.

Warrington remain in second place on points difference but have cut Wigan's lead to just nine points at the top of the Super League table.

After a scrappy first half from the home team, Bulls were in the ascendancy as they went into the break but a spirited second half fight back gave Wolves the two points.

Ryan Atkins picked up his first two tries for the Wolves, in a man-of-the-match performance on the left.

Matt King continued his scoring form as he touched down his fifth and sixth tries in just three games.

Matt Orford provided the first scare of the evening after a penalty conceded by Westwood gave the former Manly half back a goal attempt. The kick looked good but struck the right upright and bounced hazardously across the Wolves line, only to be gathered by Harrison.

Bradford broke through again moments later after a high kick was fumbled by Wolves full back Riley. But a brilliant try saving tackle from King and Harrison turned Scruton’s back to the ground and prevented the score.

Despite building some good pressure going forward Wolves were the first to concede after a mistake from Riley.

After looking shaky under the high kick, Riley fumbled for the second time and gifted Bulls position just metres from the try line. A series of attempts on the line were kept out but Wolves could not stop Andy Lynch from breaking through to touch down. Orford missed the easy conversion.

But Wolves fought back in stirring fashion on 34 minutes, started off by a super-human carry from skipper Adrian Morley. A quick play the ball from Higham allowed him to break through the Bulls line and he was well supported by Richie Myler who added his fifth try of the season. Chris Bridge added the extras.

Bulls refused to go into half time behind and after Solomona gave away a penalty for a high tackle, Bradford capitalised.

A bullet pass from Australian Brett Kearney found the oncoming Paul Sykes, who twisted around to plant the ball down above his head.

Higham started the second half being held up over the line by Scruton, but Bulls couldn’t prevent Wolves from going over in the resulting move.

Bulls were caught out, as they expected a kick on the last tackle but a spectacular pass from former Bradford player David Solomona took out three defenders to find Matt King.

Good play by King meant Ryan Atkins was able to sprint to the line and dive over for his first try in primrose and blue. Bridge missed the conversion.

King then continued his tremendous scoring run, adding his fifth try in three games off a Louis Anderson pass.

Atkins offloaded to Anderson on the turn and the Kiwi international picked out a long pass to King on the wing and the in-form Australian romped home. Bridge missed the conversion.

Wolves then stunned the Bulls with a rampant try straight from the kick off. King collected the kick and sold a perfect dummy to break through the line.

A long sprint and a timely pass to Atkins in support meant the former Wildcats centre could touchdown his second of the game. Bridge added the extras to make the score 20-8 to Wolves and leave the visitors reeling.

Michael Monaghan put the game past the Bulls on 68 minutes. The former Manly hooker jinked his way through from dummy half and breezed through to the line. Bridge goaled to continue the spectacular second half scoring spree from Wolves.

Monaghan then showed that he is also a danger with the boot, as the Australian kicked a cool 25-metre drop goal on the sixth tackle that Lee Briers would have been proud of.

The Wolves hooker then capped off a tremendous second half as he collected the ball on the last tackle and kicked a high ball to King in the left corner. The athletic winger grabbed his second try of the evening after the video referee gave him the benefit of the doubt. Bridge goaled to take the score to 33-8 to Wolves.
