WOLVES’ lethal forward David Solomona bears no hard feelings towards his old club Bradford Bulls as they prepare to face-off at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday, kick off 5.30pm.
Despite enduring a ‘difficult period’ at the Yorkshire club, which saw Solomona sidelined through injury and being released at the end of the 2009 season, the 32-year-old has only positive things to say about his former employer.
He said: “I have got no problems with the way that Bradford dealt with stuff last year.
“I think if that I had been in their situation I would have got rid of me too, as you don’t want to be paying people to be injured.
“I have no qualms with the way they sorted that out and I’m just happy to be playing again.
“If anything I am grateful to Bradford and grateful to the physio there as he did heaps for me.
“He didn’t push me to come back too soon and he helped me to prolong my career.”
Solomona also played down the importance of playing against a past club, as he has become accustomed to facing off against old friends and colleagues.
That is not to say that the Kiwi international wants to go easy on them, as his ex-teammates have been doing their best to put the impact substitute off his game.
“To be honest I’ve had seven different clubs, so playing against my old team is nothing new to me,” he said.
“I probably get more nervous playing Wakefield as I still live there and the captain is in my ear all the time, but I have started to get texts from a few of the boys at Bradford.”
It will be a very different Bulls side to the one that Solomona remembers from last year.
The arrival of Australian NRL stars Matt Orford, Brett Kearney, Glenn Hall and Heath L’Estrange have ushered in a new era and Bulls demonstrated against Wigan that they will be a threat to any club in the league.
Solomona said: “Their whole squad is strong to be honest, Halley, Langley and others have been unbelievable.
“It takes a lot to win a Dally M medal and Matt Orford did that just two years ago, which says a lot.
“He will be consistently good throughout the year, let’s just hope he isn’t this week!”
