Warrington Wolves reveal Super League squad number changes

MICHAEL Monaghan will wear the Warrington Wolves number nine shirt next season.

The former Manly star made a successful switch from scrum half to hooker for the club earlier this year when injuries struck both Jon Clarke and Mickey Higham, leading to Monaghan collecting the Lance Todd Trophy as the man of the match in August's Challenge Cup Final success at Wembley.

Moving into the number nine shirt could be an indication that head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith intends to start the season with the Australian in the middle of the front row.

Today's squad number announcement sees Clarke switch to 15, while new scrum half Richie Myler will be in the number seven jersey.

Fellow recruits Ryan Atkins and David Solomona will be in 23 and 24 respectively for Super League XV.

Wolves have 27 players in the squad they have announced, including Ireland international Tyrone McCarthy and young hooker Alex Thompson, who both made their first-team debuts last season.

Adam Neal, who has been progressing as a prop with the reserves, gets the number 28 top.

From tomorrow, supporters can head down to Wolfware at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and have their 2010 shirt printed up with a favourite player's name and number.

The price for a name and number is £10.

For any enquiries call the Wolfware shop on 0871 622 1879.
