Future Warrington Wolves scrum half Richie Myler dropped by England

TONY Smith has dropped future Wolves scrum half Richie Myler for Saturday's Four Nations clash with Australia.

Myler has suffered a head injury resulting from Jean-Philippe Baile's high tackle late in the 34-12 win against France but Smith admitted that was not the reason for his omission.

Instead, Wigan's Super League young player of the year Sam Tomkins has been given his chance to impress.

But the England chief and Myler's future boss at Warrington was quick to point out that the 19-year-old half back still has a strong chance of playing in the final group game against New Zealand.

"Richie's got a bit of a head knock but Sam was going to get a chance this week," said Smith.

"It gives us a chance to compare the two and decide which way we go for the final week.

"I've got lot of faith in both those young men but it's Sam's go this week."

Warrington skipper Adrian Morley keeps his place in the team but will now line-up alongside two St Helens players in the front row, with James Roby and James Graham replacing Scott Moore and Jamie Peacock.

Moore has been dropped completely after a poor showing against France but Peacock moves to the second row, as Sam Burgess drops to the bench.

Ben Westwood also keeps his place among the replacements.

England: Shaun Briscoe (Hull KR); Tom Briscoe (Hull FC), Lee Smith (Leeds), Michael Shenton (Castleford), Ryan Hall (Leeds); Danny McGuire (Leeds), Sam Tomkins (Wigan); Adrian Morley (Warrington), James Roby (St Helens), James Graham (St Helens), Gareth Ellis (Wests), Jamie Peacock (Leeds), Kevin Sinfield (Leeds). Replacements: Sam Burgess (Bradford), Eorl Crabtree (Huddersfield), Kyle Eastmond (St Helens), Ben Westwood (Warrington).
