Bradford Bulls coach Steve McNamara believes Warrington Wolves' recent run has caught up with them

STEVE McNamara believes Warrington Wolves simply ran out of steam as their five-game winning run came to an end against his Bradford Bulls on Sunday.

After being thumped 58-22 by Wolves earlier in the season, Bulls completely turned the tables at The Halliwell Jones Stadium to claim a 21-10 triumph.

Right from the start, Bradford appeared to have more in the tank than their rivals and head coach McNamara believes recent exertions had taken their toll on Warrington.

He said: "I think the time when we played at Odsal, we were in a bit of a flat spot and I think Warrington were in a similar type of situation themselves.

"They’ve had a tremendous run in the league and had a cup game which went to extra time and, at some stage, it probably slightly catches up with you.

"I just felt right from the start of the game that we were slightly on the upper hand and thankfully we pushed it on.

"We gave ourselves too much defensive work, particularly in the first half, and Warrington came up with some plays that tested our try line.

"But we were a whole lot better in that area this week than we were the week before, which is pleasing."

McNamara also reserved special praise for his back three, particularly in the way they dealt with Wolves' kicking game.

Full back Dave Halley and wingers Rikki Sheriffe and Semi Tadulala consistently made at significant ground on kick returns.

"There were some big performances all around," said McNamara.

"I thought all our back three were big and they retained the ball really well.

"Warrington generally kick the ball well against you, they’ve got some people in the side who can kick the ball. Fortunately for us, Lee Briers suffered an injury which restricted them slightly.

"But our back field caught most of the balls on the full, retained them very well and got us on the front foot at the start of our sets."

Well said maxemoo. I to thought Matt King played well.I thought Monas never came upto the mark. We are ment to have two half backs, if either one comes off injured the other should show either creativity to keep the ball moving Monas didn't.Clarke was his usual slow selve. Rah was again a waste of space and the whole team stud off the attacking side allowing them to make easy yards.Still as T.S. says plenty of work to be done !
