LEE Briers says his Wolves reserves side “need to be better in all aspects” after they lost at Hull FC on Saturday.

Winger Taylor Prell scored four tries for the visitors, including three inside the first 15 minutes, but The Wire still succumbed to a second league defeat of 2017.

“We had enough chances to win the game but I was disappointed with the way we finished our sets and that in the end has cost us dearly,” he said.

“We need to be better in all aspects and we will be working hard in training to put these things right.”

Briers had Super League players such as Andre Savelio, Dec Patton and Brad Dwyer available to him and they made a strong start to the game after the hosts had Curtis Naughton sin-binned for a professional foul.

Benjamin Jullien’s offload found Prell in space and he raced home from 80 metres after rounding the defensive cover.

While Hull were still at a numerical disadvantage, Wolves went through the hands and Declan Kay found Prell, who squeezed over in the left corner.

Almost immediately, the winger collected Patton’s kick to the wing to complete a quickfire hat-trick.

However, this proved the catalyst for a Hull comeback and quick tries from Jansin Turgut and Nick Rawesthorne put them back in the game.

Rawesthorne intercepted a Wolves pass and raced 90 metres to put the hosts ahead, but Prell added another long-range try from a Jullien pass and Patton’s conversion meant the sides went into the break level at 18-18.

That was as good as it got for Wolves as Jack Sanderson’s try from dummy-half two minutes after the interval gave the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.

Cameron Scott’s try four minutes later proved to be the game’s final score, despite both sides having numerous chances to post further points.

The next reserves game comes on Saturday, April 8, when they welcome Wigan Warriors to Victoria Park Arena, kick off 10.30am.
