WARRINGTON Wolves players will no doubt still have smiles on their faces this morning after Saturday night's historic win against Brisbane Broncos.

But their Australian counterparts may want to avoid looking at the papers on their way home after the defeat was labelled 'humiliating' by one newspaper.

Here's a look through how the Aussie press reacted to Warrington's win:

The Courier Mail

The Courier Mail said it was a 'shocking display' and that 'despite playing with a near full-strength side, Brisbane was humiliated at the Halliwell Jones Stadium'.

The report goes on to describe the game as an 'error-riddled performance' with Brisbane’s pack doing little to help their side overcome Warrington’s momentum.

It adds two fights in the second half did little to help the Broncos.

The Brisbane Times described the game as 'sprawling and fiesty'.

Their match report included a quote from Warrington player Kurt Gidley urging fans and press to not undermine the result.

"I hope people don't undermine or look at the result of the game and think the Broncos didn't turn up to play because they did," Gildey told Fairfax Media. "I hope people take notice and take take the win for what it is.

"It's certainly a game I'll remember for the rest of my life. Whether people think that's going overboard, that's just my emotions after the game."

The official site for the rugby league club said they were punished for a 'disappointing' first half.

The match report adds: "Brisbane made too many mistakes and were out-enthused by a Wolves outfit led by former Bronco Ashton Sims."

And that 'a couple of skirmishes' involving several players demonstrated there was 'plenty of feeling in a game that essentially was just a trial'.
