TONY Smith has given his reactions to hooker Daryl Clark signing an improved and extended four-year deal with Warrington Wolves.

The club's head of coaching and rugby said: “We are delighted that Daz has re-signed with us.

"He is somebody who is highly respected and sought-after with the capability of excelling in any competition in the world.

"He is one of the best dummy half runners and dangerous players in the world in terms of his position, and is progressing and developing other aspects of his game too, maturing into a good leader within the team.

"We are pleased that he’s going to continue developing these attributes in order for us to continue to improve along with him and that’s what we are all about as a club.

Why Daryl Clark wanted to stay with Wolves

“He has decided he’s happy, progressing and developing well, and not to look at other options staying here for an extra two years, similar to the likes of Chris Hill, Ben Currie and a number of others who have gone long-term.

"They will play a big part in us having a strong core of players for a number of years to come, to work with, build on and improve the squad.”
