WOLVES head coach Tony Smith is calling on his side to exploit any “frailties” in the Leeds Rhinos side when they meet this evening.

Brian McDermott’s side are currently rooted to the bottom of Super League having won only three games so far this season, all of which have come at their Headingley home.

The game represents Wolves’ first home game of the calendar month and Smith says it will be good to get back playing in front of the Wire faithful, but is wary of the opposition’s threat.

“It’s our home ground and we’re proud to play there but we’re up against a dangerous team at the moment, dangerous and desperate,” he said.

“They’ve still got a lot of good players and they’ll be desperate to try and keep themselves in with a chance of getting into the top 8.”

“They’re capable of hurting any team from anywhere on the park so we’ll show them a healthy respect at the same time as making sure that we’re throwing some ammunition at them as well.

“They’ve got their own frailties at the moment so we’ll make sure we try and exploit some of those.”

Wolves are also looking to get back to winning ways having lost their last two games, with the latest defeat coming at Magic Weekend against Castleford.

Smith’s men were 14-0 up after half an hour, but Smith thinks Luke Dorn’s first try just before the break may have “broken the spirit” of his side and played a big role in the 34-14 reverse.

“The first of the two tries before half time, where they kicked across then passed from one side of the field to the other, we just got sloppy there but there was a lot of willingness to try and stop that try at the same time,” he said.

“That probably broke our spirit a little bit, we worked so hard to try and stop the try and to concede at the end of it.”
