THE childhood home of local author Alan Garner is on the market in Alderley Edge.
Garner, probably best known for his books The Weirdstone of Brisingamen and The Owl Service, used the two-bedroom 18th century cottage on Trafford Road as an illustration in his novel Elidor.
Believed to be the oldest property on Trafford Road, the house was once the toll cottage to Trafford Road for the De Trafford estates.
It has stone mullion windows, beamed ceilings and open fireplaces, as well as a good-sized cottage garden with patio.
Gascoigne Halman in Alderley Edge are handling the sale and asking £350,000 for this slice of literary history.
