Four men armed with a metal bar kicked down the security door to get into the Betfred bookmakers on Brooklands Road.

All four men were wearing balaclavas and dark clothes.

Detective Constable Robert Tothill said: "Though nobody was injured, this incident has left staff badly shaken.

"The offenders need to be brought to justice to prevent them from carrying out similar crimes, and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact us."
