A BATTLE to stop protected green belt becoming Cheshire's first wind farm won the support of Runcorn MP Mike Hall.
He joined protestors to save Weaver Valley at Aston in Runcorn being destroyed by four giant turbines, each bigger than Fiddlers Ferry.
"It would be a massive blot on the landscape," said Mr Hall.
"The views are stunning. The amount of electricity generated would be miniscule.
"This is a magnificent part of our local environment. We must fight to protect it."
Wind farm developer Tegni Cymru lodged an 11th hour appeal after Vale Royal Council twice rejected its plans to erect four 125m high wind turbines.
Action group Stop Aston Windfarm is campaigning to make people aware of the forthcoming public inquiry.
Treasurer Sue Beecroft, said: "This is a picturesque and peaceful area, used for agriculture, riders, walkers and birdwatchers.
"It is the only river valley without a road through it and has been made an area of special value to invest and attract more tourists.
"We support wind generation but in the appropriate location, off shore or in an industrial area."
