CAMPAIGNERS are poised to launch an all-out attack when plans for an incinerator in Lostock are submitted.

The proposal, by waste management group WRG is due any day now and Cheshire Anti-Incinerator Network (CHAIN), is ready to fight to the last.

CHAIN chairman Brian Cartwright said: "There is not a lot we can do until we know when exactly the application is going in, we've just got to hand fire and accept we can't do a single thing other than keep collecting petitions.

"WRG did say it would be in by early January so we were expecting it to have already happened but that's obviously not the case.

"But we are ready and as soon as the plans are submitted, that's when we will really start up the action."

He added: "I can't really say much about what we have got planned at this point but we will keep everyone up-to-date when the time comes."

So far 10,000 petition forms have been collected since the campaign launched in October, but Brian says he wants to get at least 20,000 to give WRG a run for their money.

Cheshire MP and Shadow Chancellor George Osborne has joined the fight, having met with CHAIN and signed the petition in December, and Eddisbury MP Stephen O'Brien has released an official statement, which can be found on our website, confirming his opposition to the plans.

It is not too late to return your petition form, or request more.
