Brownie thinks beyond her years to help other children

A CARING Brownie is determined to keep her Brownie promise to help others after pledging her support to a children's charity.

Megan Noone, seven, was inspired to help children less fortunate than herself after seeing the plight of young carers on Blue Peter.

Her proud mum Ruth said: "She saw it on Blue Peter and said we are very lucky aren't we' so she decided she wanted to help."

The St Mary's Primary School pupil is now collecting old DVDs, CDs and computer games for Blue Peter's Disc Drive Appeal, which will be resold through Barnardo's and the money will be used towards helping young children who care for their sick parents.

Megan, of Chesterton Close, has already collected around 40 discs from her Brownie group - the Second Middlewich Brownies - and from her dance class in Winsford.

Mum Ruth added: "It is lovely what she's doing. The thing that got me the most is that she realises that she has got a lot.

"Children don't tend to see the other side they just accept and expect to have a childhood, but she's seen now that some children don't have much of a childhood, which for a seven-year-old is quite an amazing concept to grasp."

With the help of her five-year-old brother Reece, Megan wrote to her school, brownie group and dance class explaining what she is doing and requesting their help.
