CAMEO’s successful events are set to last

SOME dubbed it a flash in the pan' but three years later a Middlewich social group is still going strong.

Last week CAMEO Set celebrated its third anniversary with a big birthday bash for all its members at Middlewich Football Club.

Committee secretary Glenys Blunn said: "This isn't too bad for CAMEO Set considering that it was said by a few people it is only a flash in the pan and it won't last.

"We have made a lot of people very happy, both at social events at the football club and on coach trip outings, without them spending a lot of money."

CAMEO Set, which stands for Come And Meet Each Other Social Entertainment and Tours, was founded by committee chairman Bill Blunn who made a vow to bring the community together and promote tourism in the town by organising coach trips for locals.

Each month Bill organises coach excursions to exciting attractions all over the country and has regular social afternoons at the football club.

In the past three years the club has gone from strength to strength and its members from Middlewich, Northwich and Winsford came together to celebrate the momentous birthday occasion.

Glenys added: "As always it was a wonderful time for everyone who attended and the turnout of CAMEO members was excellent, everyone sang, danced and clapped along to the wonderful entertainer.

"We also gave a very warm welcome to some new members that came along to join us, but of course all of this could not be done without the very strong and dedicated members of the committee who always give their time so freely, as we do. Thank you to all."
