CONGLETON'S young people are being given a voice in decision-making in the town.

Congleton Town Council is looking to establish a Youth Committee for youngsters aged 14 to 18.

Candidates who are elected will serve on the committee until October 2009.

The committee will be able to set its own agenda, and discuss items referred to it by the town council.

It will report back to the town council's full council meetings.

Youth councillors will have the opportunity to attend town council meetings, and the committee will be able to seek funding from the council.

The committee will consist of 10 members, and an informal meeting takes place on Tuesday June 3 for anyone interested in being a youth councillor.

The meeting takes place at Congleton Town Hall, and starts at 6.30pm.

For more information ring Linda Minshull at the council on 01260-270350 or email lm@congletontowncouncil.co.uk.
