Tories slam PM's refusal to visit Crewe and Nantwich

CONSERVATIVE by-election candidate Edward Timpson has slammed PM Gordon Brown's refusal to visit Crewe and Nantwich.
The Prime Minister confirmed earlier this week that he would not be visiting the area in the run up to the by-election.
Commenting on the decision, Mr Timpson said: "This is further proof that Gordon Brown is taking Crewe and Nantwich for granted.
"Despite clobbering thousands of low-paid families by abolishing the 10p tax rate, he is ignoring people's concerns and refusing to listen.
"Only by voting Conservative on May 22 can people in Crewe and Nantwich send a message to Gordon Brown to get him to sit up and listen."

I agree, they are correctly blaming the Government for everything... because it is Labour who have been in power for more than 11 years and are ultimately responsible for all the problems. And yes, the conservatives are in tune with the mood of the country. Frankly we're as angry as hell about Labour's failed policies but at least the Tories are listening.... pity the same cannot be said of Gordon Brown's bunch.
If Brown cared about how the people were hurting he'd be in Crewe (stuff tradition) but he won't come. He simply won't take the 'tough decision' to visit and I suspect he can't take the tough decisions needed to fix the broken economy either.

Robin J, How was it all the Labour Governments were "thrown" out of office before Maggie and her Conservatives etc started the long run before the disaster Major took over. It's a daft point isn't it. We can liken Brown to Major only ten times worse.
As for vague Tory promises. This is the favourite Labour response. What about the Inheritance Tax - pinched by that blatant politicking in the Labour Interim Spending Revue, what about taxing non-doms - pinched by the Labourites again in their the Spending Revue, what about stamp duty for first buyers, again pinched by Labour. What about all the policies mentioned for the second, third and fourth time by Brown only last week which are to be in the Queen's Speech, correct me if I am wrong - was it 14, half of which were direct "steals" from Conservative policy which Cameron had the exact dates when the Tories anounced that they were Tory policy.
Up until the latest financial disaster, it was the cry of the Labourites when they had nothing better to say, "where is the money coming from" when the Tories announced a policy initiative. Since the Credit crunch and, as Mike from Sussex say's above, the credit card and telephone number borrowings of the Labourites, they can no longer say that because they themselves have been found out - good and proper. The Tories don't have to give any explanations where their finance is coming from to fund initiatives, one thing is certain, they won't spend it like water, they won't tax us to the hilt and they won't borrow it until our credit runs out. They will, as Cameron anounced tonight, curtail government spending in order to live within our means - like a mature housewife who knows all about "housekeeping" not like some "bimbo" like Brown and Darling who spend, spend, spend and then find that they have nothing in their bag to pay the bill.

In an earlier contribution, M.H. asked me to check my facts with reference to visits to by-elections by Prime Ministers. I have done so and he was wrong. This was probably the first time in his life that he has been wrong in anything, judging by the holier that thou tone of this morning's contribution, when he claimed that he had "won the argument". Perhaps, he should remember the well-known adage "Self praise is no praise". I was simply pointing out that it might be considered somewhat hypocritical of Mr. Timpson to blast Mr. Brown for not visiting Crewe, when his party's previous two Prime Ministers had not made by-election visits.
As for being stuck in the past, it is clearly in the Tories' interests that people should forget previous Tory administrations. If the last Tory government had been so wonderful, how was it that they were unable to win a single by-election for so many years and that they were eventually thrown out of office
so ingloriously and by such a massive majority in 1997.
As for the future, the Tories do not seem to have thought through their policies. Everything is so vague. The only policy they seem to have at present is to blame the government for everything. This may be in tune with the mood of the country at present, but there is guarantee that it will last. I suspect that the average fair-minded person will want something far more positive, when it comes to electing a new government.

How anyone can vote for Brown and his frankly disgusting Labour party is beyond me. A party that has basically maxed out our credit cards with truly epic public spending whilst delivering frankly nothing. A party that is supposed to care for the poor but delivers the most complex welfare system in the world in the form of tax credits and then raises taxes on the poor to pay for a middle class tax cut! The they realise the political impact of this a year later and borrow a further £2.7Bn (on the credit cards yet again) to pay for a tax cut that still leaves 1.1Mn losers. If that is not the definition of incompetence I don't know what is.
Do the rest of the country a favour and vote against Labour the the Welsh Moyra Tamsin Dunwoody-Kneafsy. Maybe it will hasten the end of this very tired and very tiresome government

I used to be a Labour voter, but not anymore. I'm disgusted with their vile attacks on the Conservative candidate and so will vote for him instead, as will all of my friends.
Can you imagine the uproar if the Tories attacked a candidate for being working-class? There is no place for class-based envy politics anymore. Labour need to be taught a lesson.

Well hold on a minute, how is she going to do that between now and the next General Election in less than 2 years time... haven't her party been in power for more than 11 years already? Even now, with all the public/private schoolchildren in New Labour we still get their followers coming out with all the old class trash. They seem to forget the Bliar buying up every bit of property that he and his publicity seeking wife could put their hands on, the latest abode being a £4, 500,000 (yes read millions) country pile that would shame the King of Saudi Arabia for it's oppulance. Now why would a Labourite need that sort of pile. Labour readers, if you were not aware, the arch anti rich woman herself, Hariett Harmon, QC (yes a QC in the Labour Party)went to public school, the man with the staring eyes, what's his name, yes ED Balls, the one that they are giving experience to be a future Labour PM by making him Minister in charge of Infant Primary Schools is also ex public school, turn up all the other Labour front bench on the internet and see how many went to Oxbridge, my grandaughter tried (and she had more A/A grades than many Labour MPs and she was turned down possibly because she lived in a Council House so the "old school tie" is still alive and kicking in New Labour. New labour MPs and Ministers can match the Tories person for person when it comes to education and wealth - in fact with the Tories, it's generally genuine, with Labour, they are usually obtained on the QT, know what I mean, wink wink, nudge nudge.
I have a son who lives in Worcester and I have just returned from there, turn up the Worcester papers, Labour Councillors conducted one of the dirtiest, deceitful Local Election campaigns that it is possible to imagine, their modus operandi seems to be catching because if the pro Dunwoody lot now roaming the local streets are anything to go by, they are living true to form.

Perhaps they are "Rich Labour Scum"? I'm also fairly sure that I read somewhere that Tony Blair owns a house worth £4 million. "Rich Tony Scum" maybe? Isn't the truth that Gordon Brown has not managed the economy very well at all. It's common sense to put money in reserve during the good times to prepare for the bad times that will surely follow. Gordon Brown just spent and spent. When he's fighting for his political life he just keeps on spending. Unfortunately it's our money he's spending. He is creating serious problems for the British economy by this reckless behaviour...and he believes that the voters of Crewe and Nantwich can't see this? You are unable to communicate any positive reasons why people should vote Labour and so you remind us all exactly why we should never vote Labour by openly displaying the very worst characteristics of your shameful Party which has let us all down so badly.

The fact is that the Conservative Party is winning the battle of ideas and can deliver the change that this country needs. Labour Party members are furious about this, but can do nothing about it. So they dress up in Hoodies, put on public school uniforms and try to whip up a class war. The kind of people who use words like "toffs" and "Scum" are clearly motivated by negativity and hate and should not be given any credibility whatsoever. Please don't entrust your vote to Labour next Thursday. They simply don't deserve it.

I agree, they are correctly blaming the Government for everything... because it is Labour who have been in power for more than 11 years and are ultimately responsible for all the problems. And yes, the conservatives are in tune with the mood of the country. Frankly we're as angry as hell about Labour's failed policies but at least the Tories are listening.... pity the same cannot be said of Gordon Brown's bunch.
If Brown cared about how the people were hurting he'd be in Crewe (stuff tradition) but he won't come. He simply won't take the 'tough decision' to visit and I suspect he can't take the tough decisions needed to fix the broken economy either.
