A MULTI-AWARD winning Trafford based visitor attraction has scooped another major accolade.

The Imperial War Museum North has been named as one of the Top 10 Buildings of the Last Century in England of the Last Century.

The museum, which has attracted more than 1.6 million visitors since it opened in 2002, has been officially recognised in the Rough Guide to England.

The well known landmark was designed by Daniel Libeskind, the architect behind the masterplan for the Ground Zero site in New York.

Its structure is based on the idea of a world shattered by conflict.

Other buildings to make the Rough Guide list include the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool and the Tate Modern in London.

On May 24 the museum launches a major new family exhibition called Horrible Histories: Fighting The First Wold War.

The show is specifically aimed at younger visitors.

n The Imperial War Museum North is based on Trafford Wharf Road, Trafford Park, and can be contacted on 0161 836 4000 or via its website at north.iwm.org.uk
