A FAMILY of five have been rescued from their burning home this morning.

Fire crews were called to Osprey Close in Orford following the blaze.

A two-year-old was rescued from an upstairs bedroom while a man was saved from the stairs and two children and pregnant wife from the top of the stairs.

Fire crews say the fire shows the importance of properly working smoke alarms being fitted in homes. No smoke alarm was fitted.

A spokesman said: "They are lucky to be alive."
