AN EXPERT has been invited to Tabley House next week to show members of the public how to find answers to questions about their family history.

Archivist John Benson will explore the hugely fascinating area of Tracing Your Ancestry' on Wednesday May 14.

All proceeds from the event, which starts at 7.30pm, will help Friends of Tabley House raise money to conserve and restore a unique part of Cheshire's heritage.

Mr Benson, who works at the Cheshire and Chester Archives and Local Studies, plans to use the Leicester-Warren family of Tabley to show the public how one's family history can be uncovered.

The collections in Duke Street, Chester, attract about 8,000 visitors a year.

Records relating to the history of Cheshire, dating back as far as the 12th century, are preserved and made accessible to the public. Tickets for the event at Tabley House are £8 and are available from Pat Sheppard by calling 01625 861533.
