A CREWE toddler has been seriously injured following a road accident in the West End on Sunday.

The-three-year-old boy is now being treated at Leighton Hospital after stepping off the pavement into the path of an on-coming car.

The accident happened at around 5pm on Sunday on West Street at the junction with Goddard Street.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "A black Rover car was being driven by a 19-year-old woman along West Street in the direction on Laidon Avenue, when it was involved in the collision with the three-year-old boy who stepped into the road as it passed by.

"As a result of the collision the boy has received serious injuries and is currently being treated at Leighton Hospital where his condition has been described as stable.

"The driver of the vehicle did not receive any injuries."

Police said they want to speak to anyone who may have seen the black Rover being driven prior to the accident, or who may have seen the accident happen.

Anyone who can help should contact PC Ian Holley on 01244 613641.
