JAMES Andrew from Congleton has been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Cheshire.

James, aged 16, is a Sergeant in the Congleton detachment of the Cheshire Army Cadet Force.

His duties will be to assist the Lord Lieutenant, Colonel William Bromley-Davenport, at service-related functions and ceremonies throughout 2008.

James was desribed in his citation for the role as "a first class ambassador," and a credit to the Army Cadet Force and to Cheshire.

"He is fully deserving of the apppointment, and will support the Lord Lieutenant with good humour and professionalism," it stated.

James is taking his GCSEs at Congleton High School, and after his A-levels hopes to join the Army's Intelligence Corps.

He received his Certificate of Appointment from Col Bromley-Davenport at a ceremony attended by his father Phil, mother Fiona, sister Emily and brother Alex.
