VOLUNTEERS from a radio club in Warrington has been preparing to broadcast across the world.

Warrington Amateur Radio Club has been granted a special event licence and call sign from Ofcom to use throughout the London Olympics.

GB2012MV (Manchester Venue) is one of only a select few commemorative call signs allocated for this historic event.

Members of Warrington Amateur Radio Club, in partnership with West Manchester and South Manchester Radio Clubs, will be proudly representing the region with transmissions from all three club headquarters – including Grappenhall in Warrington.

Operating started last Wednesday at 7am and will continue until the Paralympic closing ceremony on September 9.
