Suspended over naked picture

BRIDGEWATER High School teacher Robert Glew has been suspended after appearing naked on the home page of a naturist website.

The nude picture of the head of modern languages is currently being investigated by education bosses at Warrington Borough Council.

It shows Mr Glew taking part in a skinny dip with other members of British Naturism. He is running along a beach with no clothes on in a group of men and women of various ages.

The organisation declined to comment on the picture.

He has been suspended from the Appleton school as an automatic procedure after the council received complaints.

Pinkai Ghoshal, assistant director of children and young people’s services at Warrington Borough Council, said: “We can confirm the member of staff in question is not in school whilst we carry out a full investigation. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”

What has this to do with him doing his job. There are millions of naturist's worldwide will they all be suspended, it would also not surprise me that some may even be within the council offices working happily.

This is absolutely ridiculous, what a poor man! Having his name dragged through the papers, its not as if he was sending the picture to his pupils now was it?! This is a step to far and this man may never live this down, hope you feel proud of yourselves.

I totally agree, if he was exposing himself to his pupils then there would be cause for concern. This could ruin him. Poor man.

This is utterly absurd. On what basis did anyone "complain"? And why did the council take such a drastic course of action - one which ensured the story would get publicity. Could they not have quietly investigated it so that, if they were to decide there was no basis for taking any action, they could back down with no loss of face on either side?
As it is, if he does get reinstated, he will face the problem that his pupils will know that he was suspended. How will he, or the school, convince them there was no harm whatsoever in what he did? If he can't, I hope he sues for constructive dismissal because I am convinced that what he did was not in any way inappropriate for a teacher.
Maybe, though, the council will realise that naturism is legal, poses no danger to pupils, and will seize the opportunity to tell them so. Imagine if you substituted that the teacher was gay rather than naturist - would a "complaint" be given any weight? I think not.

Totally in appropriate action by the head teacher trying to control staff out of working hours.
It also shows perils of co education system: Not to long ago in single gender schools with there own pools a swimming class was every one to the pool area and strip shower and be on the pool side in a line in 5 minutes in there birthday suit.
what dose the current swim wear trend do? Long shorts for the guys other than encourage swimmers not to shower and wash out residue in areas that most would not like to swallow in there mouth!!!
skimpy tops & bottoms for the girls sexulising the young.

Are showers after school sports activity still compulsory the giving young students the access to seeing actual same sex bodys with out clothing.

Anorexia bulimia and body image problems in the young are proved to be related to media Photoshopped images proclaiming to be the perfect body
