FIRE chiefs are warning people to stay clear of frozen ponds and rivers before another cold snap of weather this weekend.
Health bosses are also urging people to take extra care over the next few days and look out for elderly neighbours, friends and relatives as the region is expected to be hit by icy temperatures.
Dr Andrew Davies, chair of Warrington health consortium said: “The cold winter weather means that people are more at risk of falls and fractures, which are a real concern especially for the older population.
"It’s really important that people to prepare for this cold spell, and look out for elderly relatives and neighbours.
"The NHS really needs the support of people, by protecting their own safety, welfare and health; they will also be helping to ensure services are free to deal with local emergencies.”
Pet owners have also been urged to keep their animals on leads to avoid them getting into difficulties.
