STAFF on the children’s ward at Warrington Hospital were delighted to receive £100 from a Lower Walton company to replace stolen games.

Julie Hitchin, from chemical company Solvay Interox Ltd, arranged the donation after reading in the Warrington Guardian how poorly youngsters on B11 ward had been left with only two games after heartless thieves stole the rest.

She said: “I read the article about the stolen games and asked Solvay if we could provide some help to ensure children in hospital had games to play on.

“We provided Alder Hey Hospital with similar support at Christmas and we were delighted to support the children at our local hospital.”

From one person i may have seen this as a generous offer, but from a company i'd have thought they could have afforded a bit more than £100.

Don't see you donating £100 in these tough times. From a company or not, its the thought that counts !

Work there do you? Actually this is the first i'd heard about it and I don't care what you say they could afford a bit more, it's a worthy cause.

Did you put your hand in your pocket to help out? £100 is generous whether it is a company or an individual. We don't know the extent of this companies other charitable contributions do we?

Some people moan about everything!

£100 from a multi million pound company is embarrasing, especially the fact that they have obviously contacted the guardian to get a bit of press. Ive worked for a company of solvay's size and they have given hundreds of thousands to charity and dont going bragging to papers about it
