UP to 190 jobs will be cut from Warrington Borough Council in the next year as it tries to save £14 million.
The figures have been revealed in a report due for discussion at next Monday’s executive board meeting and show a full breakdown of the number of positions set to be cut.
Of those 190 earmarked positions 30 jobs are currently vacant.
Clr Peter Carey, executive member for finance and corporate resources, said: “We’re talking to staff about how we’ll do everything we can to minimise any job losses.
“We are encouraging people to explore voluntary redundancies, redeployment and training opportunities so that we can mitigate against the need for compulsory redundancies.
“And we’re committed to keeping staff informed and involved in this process to try to minimise the uncertainty.”
The largest area for potential job losses is the neighbourhood and community department which has 109 jobs earmarked with 10 of those vacant.
Other money-saving ideas include joining up with other councils in the area for adoption and youth offending services.
