New role delight for party planner

A GREAT Sankey mum has described being made redundant as being one of the best things to have ever happened to her after winning an award for her new role as a party planner.

Rebecca Hancock, of Harrogate Close, lost her job as a marketing manager three years ago but has since become a qualified life coach and more recently the only party planning consultant in the north west.

The 42-year-old said: “My mother Anna died in March last year and she was a big part of my life.

“It was a wake up call to me to do as much as I can and live life to the full.

“The economic climate at the time meant my life coaching was not doing as well as I hoped so I was looking for something else.

“As I’m from Irish descent I enjoy my drink and found the company Best in Glass on the internet.”

The mum-of-two, to Cameron, aged 10, and Anya, aged seven, picked up the prize for best new consultant at the party plan conference awards last month.

Her new role involves Rebecca heading to peoples’ home and giving groups of women the option to taste a variety of wines or learn how to make cocktails.

It was viewed as being such a unique job, Sky TV cameras followed her for a Come Dine With Me style show.

Her business Dream2be, coaching children and adults how to ‘live life to the full’, is also growing and she hopes her weekly newsletter on the subject will be turned into a book this year.

She said: “I was thrilled to win the award.

“I do sometimes get that stomach churning feeling but money is not the be all and end all.

“We haven’t had a proper holiday for years so we’re hoping to go somewhere with a beach this year.”
