SANKEY south councillors kick-started the campaign to fight a planning application to extend the life of Arpley tip with a meeting at Kings Community Centre, Marina Avenue.
Clr Hitesh Patel, who claimed Arpley is now Britain's biggest landfill site, urged residents to lodge their objections with Warrington Borough Council.
He said: "The residents of Great Sankey have borne the impact of the landfill site for long enough and over 60 people turning up shows the community's strength of feeling about this issue.
“Please don't just sit back and expect others to carry the fight.
“We need everyone to chip in and and support this campaign."
