A FAMILY who endured a ‘holiday from hell’ after their five-year-old fell ill on the plane say they will let him choose the destination of their next break.

Jack Moss, from Chapelford, Great Sankey, will appear on TV programme Emergency Abroad this month after film crews followed his ordeal when he was diagnosed with a life-threatening kidney infection in Majorca.

Jack, who has suffered with kidney and bladder problems since birth, was given antibiotics by a Spanish doctor after becoming poorly on the plane but after two days he was admitted to A&E.

Helen Ralston, Jack’s mum, said: “All the family were so worried.

“He was so little to be put through that much pain and we were so surprised how ill he became so quickly.

“I had no idea kidney infections could come on within an hour.”

The Barrow Hall Primary School pupil spent the remaining five days of his holiday in hospital attached to an intravenous drip.

Sky One camera crews from the programme, previously called Sun, Sea and A&E, were filming British holidaymakers in the Muro Hospital and followed Jack and his family.

Helen, aged 30, said: “We hadn’t seen the programme before and thought the producers were nurses at first so we just agreed to be filmed without thinking.

“It became quite nice to have them around, translating for us and they became familiar faces for Jack.”

Luckily the brave youngster was healthy enough to make the flight home and is now doing well after having three operations since the summer.

Mum Helen and dad Stephen Moss, who are set to marry in December, say they are looking forward to a much happier holiday this year with Jack’s little sister Katy, aged one.

Helen added: “We’re going to let Jack choose but he doesn’t want to go back to Majorca! He has had a difficult year so he is excited about watching the programme.

“He has gone through so much and been so brave.

“We’re all so proud of him.”
