HUNDREDS turned out to take part in a Santa dash to raise funds for Brainwave, the Warrington Guardian’s charity of the year.
People came from as far afield as Yorkshire to tackle the 5km run, which was sponsored by Birchwood Shopping Centre.
The winner of the dash was Adam Leadbetter, from Birchwood, who finished in less than 15 minutes.
Lee Mitchell, of Warrington Wolves, and paralympian Adrian Derbyshire sounded the horn to start the race and the dashers ran a circular route through the shopping centre and into Forest Park.
All money raised will go towards the Brainwave Centre, on Dewhurst Road. The centre, which opened in October 2009, provides therapy programmes for children with disabilities such as autism and cerebral palsy.
In the new year the charity will be offering free training courses for families who have a disabled child. The first one will be a paediatric first aid course on January 26. To book a place call 825547.
