KERRIE Hall began an affair with murder defendant Michael Roberts after they began working together at Phones 4 U in Crewe in April 2008.
During proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, Ms Hall took to the stand to give her account of a man accused of killing his wife.
“He called me a few times with work questions on codes and stuff he needed,” she said.
According to Ms Hall, the phone calls quickly progressed into something more.
At a work roadshow in November the two kissed before she discovered he was in a relationship.
“I found out he had a girlfriend and felt guilty but he said ‘it’s okay, don’t worry about it’.
“There were quite flirty texts between us and he asked if he could come round to see me.
“It was awkward at first but then somebody made the first move and we spent the night together.”
That night turned into meetings to have sex twice a week.
Ms Hall told the court how it turned ‘rough’.
“On two occassions he put a hand round my neck.
“He applied more pressure and I didn’t like it.
“I told him to get off me and he pulled his hand away but there was a bruise on my neck like the shape of a thumbprint.”
Ms Hall, who admitted to developing feelings for Roberts, said he rarely spoke of his wife.
“He only spoke about her if she texted him while he was at mine.
“I was devastated when he married but I saw him two days after his honeymoon.”
Defending, Neil Flewitt said it had been Ms Hall that had pursued the relationship and that it was ‘purely sexual’ for the defendant “After the first kiss you were the one who made the first move. After the honeymoon you only had sex on two occasions.”
