FROM Cardiff to Glasgow, Leicestershire to Kent and Australia to Switzerland.

From Westbrook to Orford and Padgate to Culcheth.

They came from far and wide and in their thousands again to watch Warrington Wolves.

Fears that last year’s Challenge Cup success may have prevented supporters travelling again in such numbers were dissipated as Wolves fans outnumbered Rhinos along Wembley Way in the lead up to the game.

And with club officials estimating that more than 35,000 were at the national stadium to watch the Wire achieve an historic first back-to-back Challenge Cup success it was no less special than 2009.

The fancy dress costumes kept coming in the surrounding streets and routes leading to the landmark London stadium.

From Bananaman to the Flinstones and Moulin Rouge Dancers to Toy Story characters, it seemed at one point as though if you were not dressed in a costume, you would not be allowed in.

But the mood was certainly celebratory before the match kicked off.

Chris Brown, from Latchford, summed that up, saying: “Last year we were so pleased to be here that we wanted to win. But this year we really wanted to get dressed up and have a great day out.”

His words were echoed by a number of fans we spoke to.

And inside Wembley that support became a fervour as Wolves went further and further ahead.

Finally the tension that had been evident throughout the game evaporated as Louis Anderson crashed over to make the scoreline safe.

Everyone enjoyed the double.Who fancies a triple next year?
