A BIRCHWOOD teenager has been given the thumbs up from the judges of a national music competition.
Emily Ralston, aged 18, of Teal Grove, has made it to the regional finals of the Open Mic UK auditions, a contest which searches for the UK’s best singers, who showcase either covers or original material.
Emily, who started singing aged 11, is now competing for a place in the live final at London’s O2 arena in January and the chance to bag a recording contract.
Last month Emily wowed the panel with a self-penned song and she said: “I was really happy to get through as so many people were rejected. I’m just focusing on doing my best for the next round.”
Emily, who starts at Bristol University this month, is now looking forward to the next stage, which will take place on October 24 at the Willows, in Salford, to try to secure her place in December’s area finals.
