TARMAC woes continue in Stockton Heath while residents wait for ‘dangerous’ pot holes to be filled.

Clr Celia Jordan (LD - Whitefield ward) told Stockton Heath Parish Council’s July meeting that £27,000 had been earmarked to resurface the Forge car park.

But she said that Warrington Borough Council has not specified when the work would start.

The council, owners of the lower car park, manage it for Homes and Communities Agency, who own the upper part of the car park.

Clr Tudor Pole (LD – Lumb Brook ward) said: “If somebody was to fall in one of those potholes and was to break an arm or a leg it would cost more than what it would to fill them. The potholes are a disgrace.”

Clr Jordan said residents were being ‘fobbed off again’ and said she would keep on pressing for the issue to be resolved.

The snowy weather conditions in January worsened the state of the tarmac at the car park.

The parish council notified WBC to the pot holes and asked for parking bays to be remarked.

In April councillors were told that the car park is in the top three in the borough that would be attended to in the new financial year.

A council spokesman said: “We are aware that the forge car park needs some improvement works; however the number of potholes we’ve had to deal with this year has been far more than we could normally expect following the unusually harsh winter. “We are currently reviewing our programme of works and bidding for grants and further funding to repair this and other areas of concern in the borough.”
