MEET the celebrated 100,000th supporter!

Dedicated Warrington Wolves fan John Woodward has been revealed as the 100,000th Super League follower from Britain to attend a Catalans Dragons home match.

Celebrations of the achievement over five years in the top flight took place at Place de Republic in Perpignan after Saturday’s game.

The Halliwell Jones Stadium East Stand supporter, aged 56, from Fearnhead, was presented with souvenirs from the French club to mark his efforts as a follower of rugby league.

“It was an excellent weekend,” said John, who has been to every one of Wolves away games against Catalans, including the 2009 game in Barcelona.

“The people of Perpignan are always friendly and it’s good to come here.

“I really enjoyed Barcelona but I will always prefer Perpignan – it’s much friendlier.

“I’m amazed to have won as it’s something that doesn’t happen to me.

“I’m excited and couldn’t believe it to be honest.”
