SANKEY-based football club Crosfields has again proved it is top of the league after scooping a top regional prize.
The junior football team has been named Charter Standard Development Club of the Year for the north west for the second time.
The club now goes forward to a national contest in a bid to win that prize for the second year running too.
Ian Wells, secretary and football development manager, said: "All we can do now is hold our breath and wait and see if the impossible will happen again and we receive the national award for the second year running.
"Everyone has worked tremendously hard again in the club over the past 12 months so we will wait and see and keep our fingers crossed."
And he explained the process by which the club, which was only formed in 1998, has triumphed again.
He said: "This award shows that we providing the best possible and safest environment for our children to play football in.
"It also shows that we are continuing to develop in other areas by providing football for girls, local schools and community groups."
